Are you tired of looking tired? A forehead lift can smooth forehead lines, lift drooping brows, and restore a naturally youthful expression.
If you're not quite ready to consider a traditional facelift but have grown tired of your upper face showing early signs of aging, a forehead lift — also called a brow lift — may be the right cosmetic surgery procedure for you. A brow lift won't completely erase the signs of aging, but it will rejuvenate your appearance by smoothing out facial wrinkles and crow's feet and eliminating the lines on your forehead that can give you a tired or angry expression.
During this procedure Dr. Robinson will elevate the skin on your forehead and around your eyes to surgically reshape your drooping brows, giving you a more youthful appearance. Next to facelifts, forehead lifts are one of the most common procedures requested by patients of Robinson Facial Plastic Surgery in Aliso Viejo.
Dr. Ernest B. Robinson is a Board Certified Specialist in facial plastic and reconstructive surgery with more than 20 years of experience performing personalized cosmetic and corrective surgery procedures on his patients from Aliso Viejo, Anaheim, Costa Mesa, Irvine, Laguna Hills and Santa Ana in Orange County and beyond.
During a consultation appointment, you and Dr. Robinson will discuss in detail your motivation for considering a brow lift, your desired surgical outcome and realistic expectations for this procedure. After taking your complete medical history and examining your face, Dr. Robinson will describe how he will perform your surgery and answer any questions you may have.
He also may suggest other elective rejuvenation procedures you may consider to further enhance your facial features, such as eyelid surgery or cosmetic wrinkle fillers.
Many patients combine a brow lift with facelift surgery or eyelid surgery (blepharoplasty) for a more comprehensive upper-face rejuvenation and the most balanced, natural-looking outcome.
Forehead lifts take one to two hours and are performed at Pacific Hills Surgery Center using a combination of local anesthesia and sedation, or general anesthesia, for your complete comfort.
Dr. Robinson makes incisions at or behind your hairline — and in some cases in the mid-forehead or above the brow — to access and reposition the underlying tissue and muscle.
He repositions or removes tissue and muscle to correct visible brow creases and frown lines between the eyebrows, creating a smoother, more refreshed appearance.
After tightening the loose skin and removing any excess, Dr. Robinson closes the incisions. When properly cared for and protected from sun exposure, these incisions fade completely over time.
You'll be discharged a few hours after this relatively painless procedure with a prescription for medication to treat mild discomfort and instructions to elevate your head and apply cold compresses to minimize post-surgical swelling and bruising. It's important to have someone at home to assist in your care for the first few days; if you're away from home, our staff can help you arrange for aftercare.
It's normal for your face to feel puffy after surgery, especially within the first 24 to 48 hours. You may also experience slight bruising, swelling and tenderness around your forehead, cheeks and eyes — this initial discomfort is easily controlled with mild pain medication.
Dr. Robinson will remove your bandages in a day or two and take out your stitches in a week to 10 days. Although healing time can vary, most patients fully recover after two weeks.
This procedure will lift your forehead, eyebrows and upper eyelids to restore your natural expression and give you a more youthful looking face. You can expect to see noticeable results in as few as three months as swelling and bruising progressively subside.
Because it takes time for tissue to heal completely, it can take up to six months before you see the final appearance of your beautifully rejuvenated forehead.
