Juvéderm Aliso Viejo
Juvéderm By Dr. Face
One of the leading dermal fillers is Juvéderm. Juvéderm is not just one product but rather a family of dermal fillers that includes hyaluronic acid fillers such as Voluma, Vollure and Volbella, all FDA-approved, and containing lidocaine. We use these fillers to restore age-related changes in the face. Each has specific properties that make it ideal for different facial and skin enhancements. Fillers in this category typically last up to two years. Because hyaluronic acid is a naturally occurring sugar in the body, the body absorbs the filler slowly over time. To maintain the same beneficial effect and appearance, patients undergo periodic follow-up treatments.
Juvéderm is primarily soft-tissue filler that we inject into the skin to fill in facial wrinkles and skin folds (like the nasolabial folds that extend from the nose to the corners of the mouth) to restore a smoother, younger facial appearance. Juvéderm can also be used under your eyes and in your lips. Juvéderm is softer than most other dermal fillers, which makes it best for lip enhancements.
Juvéderm Voluma®
Unlike Juvéderm, this product cannot be used under your eyes, in your lips or in the lines between your nose and mouth. Voluma is designed for injection deep into the dermis right over the facial bones and works best for the upper and middle cheeks or chin. As the name suggests, Voluma provides a volumizing effect for the upper and mid-face areas, which are generally more difficult to treat. As we age, our skin, fat, bones and muscles typically lose volume or fullness, causing a gaunt, hollow appearance in our chin, cheeks and cheekbones. Voluma restores fullness, allows better facial contouring and smooths wrinkles. Voluma is also the only FDA-approved hyaluronic acid-based filler that is designed for cheeks and chin. Because it’s placed deep in the skin, Voluma can last up to two years, making it the longest-lasting of all dermal fillers currently available. Please note that most people require two injections spaced one month apart for the best long-term results.
Juvéderm Vollure®
This is another member of the Juvéderm family. Vollure XC or Ultra XC is hyaluronic acid filler that’s been specifically designed to treat mild to moderate wrinkles and skin folds in the lower face. This includes the nasolabial folds, marionette lines at the corners of the mouth and the lines where the upper and lower lips meet, called oral commissures. Vollure XC can hold moisture in your skin without giving it too much water. Too much water can cause skin to break down, making hyaluronic acid a beneficial substance. Juvéderm Vollure can:
- Treat marionette lines that develop between the corners of your mouth, along your jawline and on your chin
- Add volume to nasolabial folds
- Fill in mild to moderate wrinkles and lines
- Refresh your lower face
Treatments generally take about 15 minutes. You may need several sessions to get the desired results, depending on the area being treated and how your body reacts to the product. Over time, your body absorbs fillers and your skin returns to its previous, untreated state. That’s why dermal fillers require maintenance and follow-up treatments. For the best possible results, you should avoid strenuous exercise for the first 24 hours following your treatment. It’s also important to avoid sun exposure and drinking alcohol before and after treatment. Sun exposure and alcohol can increase your chances of bruising and increase swelling. If you’re using blood thinners, aspirin or ibuprofen, medicines that can increase bleeding, tell your esthetic injection specialist before treatment.
Juvéderm Volbella®
This dermal filler is specifically formulated to treat the delicate skin covering the lips. Volbella is thinner and more pliable when compared to other facial fillers, which provides a smooth, natural effect. Volbella XC is an injectable gel for lip augmentation and for correction of perioral or “lipstick” lines in adults over 21.
With optimal treatment, this hyaluronic acid dermal filler lasts up to one year. As with other hyaluronic acid fillers, the most common side effects include:
- Temporary reactions at the treatment site
- Tenderness and/or swelling
- Firmness, lumps, bumps
- Bruising, pain
- Redness or discoloration
- Itching
We inject Volbella XC directly into and around the lips using an ultra-fine needle. The goal is to temporarily plump the lips for lip augmentation and smooth the lines around the mouth. The gel contains lidocaine, which improves the comfort of the injection by reducing your sensitivity. Most patients who receive Volbella treatment report that side effects are mild or moderately uncomfortable at worst and lasted 30 days or less. People with a history of severe allergies or severe allergic reactions to lidocaine or the bacterial proteins used in these fillers should avoid this treatment.
