Mid-Facelift

Midface Lift

Does your face appear more flat than defined?
When to consider a Midface Lift

If you’re in your 30s or 40s, chances are you’ve noticed your face has lost some of its natural contour, appearing more flat and less defined than in your younger years. Like you, many patients come to Dr. Robinson seeking a minimally-invasive procedure that will reduce the signs of aging in the midface area between the lower eyelids and the increasingly noticeable smile lines, called the nasolabial folds, that develop around your nose and mouth.

If these are your areas of concern, Dr. Robinson may recommend a midface lift, which can restore your youthful facial dimensions by elevating your sagging cheeks, smoothing the furrows around your nose and even correcting a downturned mouth.

Dr. Ernest B. Robinson is a Board Certified Specialist in facial plastic and reconstructive surgery with more than 15 years of experience performing individualized enhancement procedures for his patients from Orange County and beyond. If you’re considering a midface lift, contact Robinson Facial Plastic Surgery in Aliso Viejo to request a consultation. Call, email or complete this form to schedule an appointment with Dr. Robinson to discuss the treatments available to reach your individual corrective or cosmetic enhancement goals.

Communicating your goals for this procedure

During a consultation appointment, you and Dr. Robinson will discuss in detail your motivation for considering midface lifting and your desired surgical outcome. He’ll take your complete medical history, examine your face, discuss realistic expectations and describe the specific surgical techniques he recommends to achieve your cosmetic goals. To further enhance your appearance, Dr. Robinson may suggest one or more compatible procedures, such as an eyelift, forehead lift or skin resurfacing.

Surgical techniques to achieve your desired outcome

Midface lifting is a minimally invasive procedure performed at Pacific Hills Surgery Center in two to three hours using only local anesthesia.

During the procedure, Dr. Robinson will make very small incisions in your hairline, at your temples or inside your mouth to access the muscle, connective tissue and skin on the upper section of your face. Through these incisions the doctor will lift and reposition the muscles and fat pads that form your cheeks and remove any excess fat from around your eyes. He will re-drape the skin, suture it securely into place and stitch the incisions closed.

Recuperating after your Midface Lift

You may experience some initial discomfort, and as with any facial plastic surgery procedure, you can expect some swelling or bruising for the first few days. Most patients are able to return to work a week after their midface lift, and achieve full recovery in as little as seven to 10 days, their appearance beautifully rejuvenated.

Expected results from this procedure

Midface lifting will effectively re-plump your cheekbones, correct deep nasal furrows and return your mouth to its original, upright position. The hidden incisions Dr. Robinson makes in midface lifts leave little visible scarring. You’ll notice dramatic results in as little as a month, but it takes time for tissue to heal completely, so it can take up to three months for you to fully appreciate the dramatic effects of your midface lift.
